Accounts

The accounts are the financial statements which record the revenue and expenditure of a company, also showing the cash inflow and outflow. It consists of two main statements which are Profit & Loss accounts and Balance Sheet. The Profit & Loss accounts shows Income and Expenses of the company. The Balance Sheet is statement showing companies Assets, Liabilities, Ownership equity and Reserves.

Private companies no longer have to have an Annual General Meeting to lay the accounts before the members, unless expressly required by the Articles of Association.  A private company now has 9 months in which to file its accounts at Companies House and a public company has 6 months.
